Sloppy Joe's Cocktail of the Month

The Sloppy Joe's 'Rio Grande' Cocktail

This is a variation of Tito's Texas Tea, though as Sloppy Joe's bartender, Jordan S., prefers tequila, we bring you the 'Rio Grande.'

  • 1 oz. Patron Silver tequila
  • 1/2 oz. raspberry liqueur
  • Top off with some lemonade
  • Shake well
  • Garnish with a lemon
  • Enjoy!

You can watch Jordan make the Rio Grande cocktail on our YouTube Channel.

Celebrate Hemingway in Key West This July!

Approximately 150 burly, bearded men will compete in the annual Hemingway® Look-Alike Contest at Sloppy Joe’s Bar, 201 Duval St., a favorite haunt of the legendary writer. Past contest winners will judge the Hemingway hopefuls during the preliminary rounds on Thursday and Friday, July 18 and 19, at 6:30 p.m., with the finals on Saturday, July 20, at 6:30 p.m. For entry information, visit keywestlookalikes.com.

The look-alikes will also star in the "Running of the Bulls" spoof on Saturday at noon on Greene St, next to Sloppy Joe’s. The celebration concludes on Sunday with Sloppy Joe’s Papa Birthday Bash, honoring the 125th anniversary of Hemingway’s birth. Join us at 9:00 a.m. for photo opportunities with Papa 2024 and enjoy a themed birthday cake at noon.

Sam Carlson receives the Anne McKee Artist Fund's new Premiere Performance Grant

The Sloppy Joe's Foundation Fund

The Sloppy Joe’s Foundation's fundraising efforts over the last six months have made contributions to many wonderful organizations and community funds possible.

Along with the Tennessee Williams Theater, the Sloppy Joe’s Foundation sponsored the Anne McKee Artist Fund's new Premiere Performance Grant. This grant allows a local performer to produce a larger production than they may not otherwise be able to produce through the general Anne McKee Artist Fund annual grant process. We are excited to see the show that recipient Sam Carlson produces next spring with his grant award.

With the 2024 school year coming to a close, we look back with pride on the achievements of the graduating and rising students at Key West High School. Contributions to band programs, athletics, and scholarships this past year have made a significant difference. The Sloppy Joe’s Foundation is proud to support our Key West Conchs.

Just as much as our community includes our people and our culture, it is important to us to see our local flora and ecosystem thrive. Contributions to the Save A Tree Fund's Royal Poinciana Red Party, which celebrates Tree Commission founder, Merili McCoy's love of the Royal Poinciana tree, ensure that our island has adequate shade trees and green space with new tree plantings.

These and many more contributions could not have been made without your generous support. Your continued support is crucial in our mission to make a positive impact in our community. For more information or to donate, please visit the Sloppy Joe's Foundation.

Sloppy Joe's Little League Baseball Team Triumphs with Undefeated Season!

Under the dedicated coaching of Tim Hollohan, who is also a regular performer at Sloppy Joe's, the Sloppy Joe's Little League 6U baseball team achieved an incredible undefeated season! Tim said, "The only thing I enjoy more than playing on the Sloppy Joe's stage is coaching my six-year-old son's baseball team."

To celebrate their accomplishments, Sloppy Joe's hosted an end-of-season lunch and party for the team and coaches. Congratulations to the entire team and their coaches for this outstanding accomplishment.
